Some of you know about the stuff we've gone through with Kira's lip. Here's an update.
We finally got an MRI done in July and they determined that it isn't a hemangioma like they've thought all these years. It is a vascular malformation, which will not go away and poses potential for hemorrhaging if she ever had a facial injury. It could also ulcerate, which would be bad... The only way to fix it is through surgery.
She has to undergo two procedures. One, on the 24th, will harden the blood vessel. The second, on the 25th, will remove the hardened vessel and make sure there is adequate blood flow to the lip. She will be in the hospital from the 24th to the 26th. I'm sure she's nervous about the whole thing, but she's also happy to get rid of the bump on her lip that she's been teased about for years.
We will fast for her on the 24th. We would appreciate your prayers!

Today she shared with the whole class about her upcoming surgery. She also got personal and told how she was teased at her old school but not at Bella Vista... she's a precious one!

ReplyDeleteAmy... you may not see this before Monday morning but if you do... Kira said something about her dad wanting to come with us on our symphony fieldtrip that day, Monday, September 14.... if he'd like to come and this notice isn't too late he's more than welcome...
