You just never know

I visited my grand nephew in Primary Children's Hospital today. He's seven, and had a terrible seizure that lasted three hours. He was life flighted from Payson. His mother--my niece--was tired, but in surprisingly good spirits even though her youngest child was basically in a coma and had been all night.

He's doing better now. They were able to take the tube out of his throat and he's responsive. All good signs. Now they have to figure out why he had the seizure in the first place.

It all proves that you just never know. It all reinforces everything I've been thinking since Jason's brother died. Value what you have. Value the people in your life, especially those who build and strengthen you. Don't let your loved ones ever wonder how much you value them.

Jason taught a lesson last Sunday about the Anti-Nephi-Lehis--some people in the Book of Mormon. Not only did these amazing people repent and make covenants with the Lord, but they also buried their weapons. Violence was a weakness of theirs, so when they covenanted to obey God's laws, they buried their "weapons of rebellion." As they repented, they rid themselves of the instruments that helped them commit sin. Then, they turned to people who were in a position to protect them and help them keep their covenants. We need to do the same, and do it every day. It's the only way to find true happiness and be as prepared as possible for whatever may come.

Cause you just never know.
